I think I would personally prefer a regular footnote, but this should probably be a plugin setting.

Please just always open in a new tab, period. I never think about what tab I'm on when I open Update Tracker, and (on iPad at least) opening this plugin...

This should be added to the documentation. Heck, you could make a button to submit to the directory!
