I believe I've found the source of the problem, when VTK moved to 9.1 vtkConfigure.h was split across multiple other headers and deprecated https://gitlab.kitware.com/vtk/vtk/-/blob/master/Documentation/release/9.1.md#filters-2 , libmesh can't find it (or...
