I don't see any "Groups" facility in the standard Android Contacts app in my Android 9 phone. Is it a new feature in later versions of Android, maybe ?
I see in the Contacts app I can select two or more contacts and say "link" them. Is that what you mean ?
My Contacts app, and I think I am using the standard one, does not have Groups. I looked through the screens.
Thanks for the ideas, but it sounds a bit complicated. And I'd rather have all fake names in one bunch (alphabetically), so they clearly stand out (for the phone's user)...
Sorry, I built it using Flutter, and I can't figure out what versions of Android it should work on. I tested on my phone, which has Android 9.
It's available through F-Droid.
Install F-Droid, then install Fake Contacts from inside F-Droid.
That order is in the Dashboard, left to right. And in reverse, in the Glossary in the README, and in the menus down the left side of the app's web...
