Wayland for Studio One support on Linux

Open p0nce opened this issue 2 years ago • 4 comments

Studio One on Linux(!) is Wayland only not X11. https://www.omgubuntu.co.uk/2023/10/pro-audio-app-studio-one-now-supports-linux

So few (none?) plugins work currently there. Strange because VST3 doesn't do specific things for Wayland (EDIT: rumor is that Studio One also invented the extension, huh)

Block because from reading Studio One forums this is very early days and maybe they'll add X support, need to wait one year at least.

Nontheless, Wayland support will be neccesary since X11 is no longer being maintained. It's a dead project and all of the energy in the Linux space is going towards Wayland.

Sure this is the idea, I'm waiting from at least some pressure from users, and jumping late on compat work makes sure that early oddities are sorted out by early birds. Dplug uses a lot of dead APIs like Win32 or CoreGraphics that works well because they aren't new.
