Much improved with 1824c88ae9b4f0abd5fb161617501649d1dbb39a. May still need some adjustments. 
I would suggest simply using `Enter`.

Java client is being outmoded & this may not qualify as being necessary to fix.
"Letters" & "characters" are interchangeable in American English. But I do agree that "characters" sounds better.
