I suspect this maybe because I've deleted the 8.3 filenames on the volume.

Well, now it started, the error possibly was because the path contained cyrillic characters.

But this time the created start menu folder is empty.

DWM *can* be disabled on Win 8-Win10. For instance, I have tested Lode Runner on Win 8.1 with DWM disabled and the glitch disappeared.

@pyrates999 do you claim the code somehow does not exist in Explorer or what? The both kinds of taskbars belong to one process, explorer.exe.
