About save files...
Hey. First of all, i'm not using sh3proxy, I'm using the widescreen fix, but the author of that told people that maybe you can help with this (because it exceeds aspects about the screen). Me and many people have this use with SH3 on pc that silently, the save file that one has, changes by itself the difficulty of riddles and action to easy. I don't see any fix around the internet and I hope you can help with this. Any kinda help is appreciated.
This is most likely a bug of the engine, but it’s unclear whether it occurs at save or at load. In order to proceed, the savefile format needs to be understood.

I heard that this may be in relation to running the game in Windows 10. Do you think this could be fixed running it in compatibility mode? Also, what type of savefile format uses? I think the extension was something like .001. Also, thanks for replying.
Savefiles are written to data.sys or data.0xx, as you correctly noted, but I don't know how the game choses between those paths. They are stored in a 8192 B large structure with a lot of individual members that represent the game state. Unfortunately, the game code is rather complex, so it's unlikely the format will be understood.
How often does the bug happen? Inconsistent bugs are particularly tricky to fix.
I don't know enough about Windows internals to conclude anything about compatibility mode, but in my experience it usually did nothing.
I do not know about programming so the file extension is where my knowledge ends, haha. I'll be starting again SH3 with all the additional stuff that I've put in it, but I'll be sure to check if this happens again and tell about it here. I'll also be making regular backups of the save files.
For what it's worth, I'm having the same issue. It seems to have happened around when I got to the Brookhaven Hospital. The save amount also reset to 0, meanwhile the play time stayed the same.
A quick update and maybe a fix: I remind everyone that I'm using the Widescreen Fix by ThirteenAG, the 16:9 cutscenes by WSMSH3 and XInput Plus. I made a clean re-install of the game, asked a friend to make a python script to not have to manually copy and paste the save file everytime I finished playing, but maybe the most important, I run SH3 in the Windos XP Service Pack 3 mode, and so far, I haven't had the same "everything switching to easy" error.
