Problem with changing control options

When using the sh3 proxy, the game seems to lag on me whenever I go into the options menu. Also, if I change something there and save it, a screen popup saying there is an error and changes have not been saved. If I go and recheck however I see that the changes have been saved.

Is all of this normal - the lag in option changes? Thank you very much
