Solved with latest 3.0.0 release.

Custom JS code can be added to the modals as described in this issue https://github.com/trco/django-bootstrap-modal-forms/issues/158. This information will be added to the docs.

@rez0n I was considering to improve package and add option to pass external JS to modalForm when instantiating it. I researched your case with the great example repo you shared....
