@drekka one more question. Carthage has a submodule feature that makes... checkouts submodules. Have you considered that?

@ikesyo I recall in the past once recommending doing this via .xcconfig files. @jdhealy and I were chatting about this, in regards to what community folks seem to be expected...

@jeffctown I'm still open of it but no changes to the Cartfile, Cartfile.resolved or the Cartfile format. Also this would have to come after and/or be compatible with XCFrameworks support.

@mollyIV It doesn't look like this PR is building. Do you have time to follow up?

@petrovi4 and how would you know if the new version is compatible with the current dependency graph, if you don't have the graph itself?
