Well, so far most people have been quite happy with jdeb as is :) I guess it's just that the multi package requirement isn't that common.

Hmmm. While I can see the overlap I am more inclined to say: let's revamp the API so you use `jdeb` as a dependency and create an `spk` plugin yourself....
The `Builder` and `Producer`s and so on are there. You could just use `jdeb` as a dependency today. But we will need to see what needs to change in order...
Flexible variable substitution is on the roadmap. (see https://github.com/tcurdt/jdeb/issues/195 )
Usually I would create a tgz with the right permissions - and they would be preserved.
