I managed to implement a better version by splitting in 4 quarters. Result is closer to what we want but still weird (perspectively incorrect): 

Removing the milestone as this has become low priority (the fix I implemented is ok for now).

Looks like the bug reappeared.

All right in that case this is really low priority (probably wontfix actually). Let's leave it there but outside of milestones.

Just tried it on Ubuntu 18.04 and I confirm the problem. It does not always crash though.

This is gonna be a hard bug to fix IMHO because our paint creation system is kind of unstable.
