Hmm, I am not seeing any build errors (with SDK set to 10.7/10.8 and target to 10.6) in regards to the `compat.h` file and it still seems to be required...
No point of updating these right now as we are moving towards 2.0 which will need slightly different usage docs.
The thinking when I created this issue was primarily to not worry about blocking whoever is calling the current callback function. I.e. allowing it (`CDEventsCallback(…)`) to return almost instantaneously instead...
