What does `git branch` yield? Also, could you try to specify the output of `git rev-parse --show-toplevel` as the directory to `--repository=`? So if it yields `/a/b/c` try running `git...

How did you install Ruby, via `rvm`, another package manager or was is prepackaged with your OS?
I can confirm this as well. Not sure what the problem is atm, but my research tells me it has something to do with git looking for a man page...
