If you want to experiment I guess the easiest thing would be to just use the php internal server: http://php.net/manual/de/features.commandline.webserver.php this could work.

Autoregister was no feature I added myself so I may just remove the feature. When I get some time I will investigate for an easy fix though.

Having a standalone version with PHP could be done but then you have to provide a way to run it as service / daemon. I was thinking about a golang...

Your point 2 does not make sense to me. Why would the "server" request updated data? When the user presses refresh. the browser will refresh the page by loading it...
