IIRC my original thinking was just that is the user-configurable timeout necessary if we think that AS defines how long the token is valid and how often it's good to...

Looks like the client code has some token expiration check logic too..

thanks one clarification, this can be an "opt-in" setting. currently we just patch to add `return ret;` after this line https://github.com/intel/QAT_Engine/blob/ceb9d4ac91e5ea1c1558e087378c209624f034cc/e_qat.c#L1146
