The default extension for a "UNIX Executable" in macOS is none. Remove the extension, then make the file executable in Terminal: `chmod +x /path/to/osx-smb3-foundry` Then execute it from Terminal: `/path/to/osx-smb3-foundry`...

I gave it a try. Not sure what to make out of it though, is this the behaviour Apple intended? Looks buggy to me. 
They just disappear, nothing shows to the left of the notch no matter how many icons I add.
I have an issue with this too. It has grown increasingly interesting for me to know when I am being physically tracked, and having that indicator auto-hide whenever it tries...
I get this behaviour as well, new copies twice a day ever since I upgraded from 10.8.10 to 10.9.7 (and then 10.9.8). Not sure what relevant info I can provide...
