I note that in loading the automated "blurbs", all the human-generated summaries in the 520 attribute were wiped.

I am mistaken, the blurbs are added as additional summaries and the old ones are still there

further development of the AI summaries should go in a new issue, or perhaps a new repo. https://github.com/gutenbergtools/website_update would be a good place to organize
