I have the same problem, and the file I downloaded was named _MultiMarkdown QuickLook.qlgenerator_ so I assume it is indeed the precompiled binary (2011-12-18). There is nothing in the file...

Fixed it in https://github.com/elmimmo/MMD-QuickLook/tree/filename-extensions but I am new to git and do not understand how to send a pull request of only this particular feature.

Just for reference, in case someone needs this feature, https://github.com/filamentgroup/glyphhanger seems to keep ligatures (I did not verify if other advance font features too).
