I would be against such an API being added. Either the use case is hot reloading and should be brought up with V8 or the code should be rewritten to...
v8:10476 has info about the removal of live edit and may be a good place to express a want of hot reloading.

@dputtick this will never replace `require('repl')`, but there is a small chance it will replace node's interactive mode. I don't have any timeline or concrete plans to do so though....
