This seems reasonable to me. IIUC, the original PR just didn't add `cohy` to ere on the side of simplicity. @tsbinns any thoughts?

Adding additional visualization is a good idea, but definitely will take quite a bit of work. I think some basic visualizations can be done though, for example: square heat maps...
