Happy to report @Thomas101 that this beta version is correctly closing Wavebox to systray without leaving the icon open on the dock. Thank you for your time and effort. Cheers.

Unfortunately, the multiple app icons in the systray are still present when opening the Settings window.

Nope @Thomas101, I'm on elementaryOS 5.1 Hera and I believe that I was the one reporting that particular bug.

Another related issue, will there be an option to run Wavebox only in the tray? Now that running in tray works this would be nice. Cheers.

Can confirm.

The same happens on various elementary OS versions without community indicators.

Thanx for the workaround but it does not work for me, got the same error message as heiner865 have.
