Who would maintain these srv records? Is your claim that it's easier to update srv records than a static address in syncthing? I heavily disagree if it is. This doesn't...

But that doesn't change, hence it doesn't really need to be discovered, just configured once, same like the A/SRV record itself in general. Who is going to maintain srv record...

And how many of our users own a domain? Given quite a few don't know how permissions work I'd expect the number that manage a domain is not that many....

Browsers do not support standard folder selection dialogs, so it would have to be hand rolled.
