image with caption in post is creating code on home page [moved]

<b>What steps will reproduce the problem?</b>
1. If I insert an image at the very beginning of a post with a caption, the html code will appear in the node based featured posts #1 and in the slideshow excerpt.
2. When I insert an image without a caption, then I get a blank space below the event date.
3. Event calendar 3 plugin is installed.

<b>What is the expected output? What do you see instead?</b>
See the screenshot. At this point, if you look at the site, it is not occurring as I have moved the images lower in the post to prevent them from showing up in the home page excerpts.

Wordpress 3.1

This does not seem to happen when there is no caption.
