Text copy inexplicably fails on some text

Description of the problem or steps to reproduce

micro consistently fails to copy the same text spans out of a buffer. This appears consistently to happen when there are blank lines involved. No single copy attempt failed so far if I copy text w/o any blank lines in it, or with a single trailing one. But all attempts to copy text with blank lines in between result in no copy being made. The clipboard option was set to terminal. This forces me to copy text fragments one by one skipping over any blank lines and to insert them manually later.
