SLZB-MRW10 - soft reset loop

Describe the bug

i recently switched to a SLZB-MRW10

however it seems that this controller locks up even more often then my old controller (Razberry pro 7, with TubesZB adapter)

However, its happened a few time so far that the contoller goes into a loop

the controller goes unresponsive, zwave js ui does a soft reset

then the controller goes unresponsive and the loop continues until i unplug the controller

i dont know if this a hardware issue or something else, i've opened a ticket with smlight too

also i dont know if its relevant, but this contoller seems to run hot the zwave chip is 75.5 °C

i forgot to copy the log before i reset it the last time.

sorry i had it set to driver level, but maybe i didnt save the change correctly? i thought the attached file was good.

however when i look at it again this morning it wasnt driver level. I've changed it agian and i will reupload it when the issue happends again

Before we investigate further - your controller is getting absolutely hammered from the network with Meter reports. In that logfile I count almost 68500 reports in 24h, that's roughly one every 1.25 seconds. The majority (~64000) of those is from a single device, Node 32.

This level of traffic is far too much for Z-Wave. Read through https://zwave-js.github.io/zwave-js/#/troubleshooting/first-steps?id=reduce-reports-from-the-network and significantly turn down the reporting for that device and potentially others.

Before you do that, there's not much point in trying to even start diagnosing the actual issue.

Ok,I’ve swapped back to my razberry pro. Since it was unusable with the smlight controller.While it was reporting too much, it was working with the razberry pro without issue for over a year.Regardless I removed that node last night , since I swapped out what it was controlling.I’ll swap back to the smlight. so far about 24h with the ZWA-2 connected via USB and it has not locked up in a loop.

That would point towards either the SLZB-MRW10 or your network being unstable. Given that you said you had no issues with the TubesZB, it's probably the former.

I’ll send this to smlight As it’s unlikely to be a hardware issue since it’s affecting but the SLZB-MRW10 and SLZB-MR1UI would assume it’s a firmware issue Generally I don’t have any network issues. It’s a UniFi network that I’m running. Yes, it looks like a firmware issue but it is a Z-Wave firmware issue on the sililabs side and we will have to wait for their new SDK to be certified. The issue is most likely related to network latency, USB connection has no latency while network connection may have ping.

Since this does not appear on test setups (we tested ZWA-2 with MR1U and tested MRW10) I can assume that your real setup has some latency or packet loss.

While not directly related to this lockup issue.

I’ve been testing the new zwave esp firmware with zwa-2 & the recommended PoE adapter

So far I’m not experiencing any issues with locking up.

As the smlight devices can be used with esp firmware. It might be possible to support the new esp zwave firmware. Although I haven’t tried to build a firmware for it
