Enabling product promotions.

Products.csv / json shows a bunch of products. I would like to know if there's a way to enable sales / offers / promotions. I noticed the csv has additional trailing fields but I don't know what to add for this to happen (the json file shows no keys to do this either). I looked in the code too but found no clues. Thanks and my apologies if this is not an issue but rather a documentation matter.
