Describe the bug

Taskbar is not displaying correctly when there are unread messages

  • Operating System: Fedora 40
  • Zulip Desktop Version: 5.11.0 (Flatpak)
  • KDE6
  • Wayland
  • 4K monitor with 150% scale

What should be displayed? Are you saying there should be a notification badge or that there should be an entirely different icon?

Notification badge on top of the zulip icon, e.g. a nymber 2 inside a blue disk. If you look at the screenshot it's attempting to do that, but it's too big and replicated 3 times with different x offset

I think the PR #1365 should fix this, but just wanted to add that I've had this problem for a while (Fedora 39+40 KDE Plasma, Wayland, 125% display scaling), and I switched from AppImage to Flatpak to see if it helped and the problem persists. Zulip icon shows fine with no unread messages, but looks like this with an unread message:

I mean, technically it still works as a way of letting me know that there's unread messages, but hope to see it fixed in an upcoming release :sweat_smile:
