Adding line loss factor

Open phillias opened this issue 11 months ago • 1 comments

It should be easy to factor in energy lost as heat due to transmission resistance, known as line loss, right? EIA estimates 5%. Perhaps your data could refine that estimate? This is the biggest argument against electrification for energy independence.

Hi @phillias thanks for engaging with Copper Sushi 🍣. Unfortunately, I am no longer actively maintaining this repo - it was more of a way for me to learn and convey an intuition around power flow in electrical grids. Losses are probably one of the many simplifying assumptions this model makes.

If you're interested in contributing on this front, I suggest you get involved in the PyPSA project. This is the Python library I used to run power flow simulation for Copper Sushi 🍣 , and where I'd probably turn to introduce power flow calculation with losses. 🙏
