The exact issue I am having is that I am storing links in markdown tables and title fetched with a | cause the table to break. So I have to go in an edit it to a - or something else to circumvent having to do a manual edit. Let me know what you think, I don't mind writing the feature and submitting a pull request. Here is an example below that causes the problem.
