content descriptions + lots of code fixes?

I'm working on screen reader improvements, but I've also gone through the code and applied some suggestions. It's a work in progress, and I'm probably breaking a few things with this? 🙃

I'm also still looking for a way to add descriptions to the hamburger icon in the toolbar
