Deleting Files Doesn't Actually Delete Them

I deleted roughly 60GB of data within the app but my phone (and Material Files) still shows that the space has been used. Storage space is maxed out. How do I fix this?

Same issue. How can I get the free space back without factory resetting my phone?

this data from limited access folders like Shizuku accessible eg data and obb folders or usual folders?

Usually this happened in the limited folders, if this is from usual folders, then that's it. I'm going to another alternative for now, until this got patched.

Edit: I think the limited folder name is SAF, storage access framework.

It seems like this may be an issue with Android caching. Rebooting seems to always fix the issue. But weird that it sits using the data without a way to clear it fully until you reboot the device. Haven't tested any alternatives or other devices to find out if this is exclusive to this app or Android as a whole.

See my comment above for more info. But I don't have root so it would just be whatever you can normally access in day-to-day.

Seems like just a reboot usually fixes it for me. See my comment from a bit earlier for more info.

I don't do root in my main phone, it's not root, just a little bit of ADB privileges from apps that are listed here: https://github.com/aistra0528/Hail/blob/master/README_EN.md#working-mode

(X-Plore, marc files, this file app (material files)*, ZArchiver, all could access this from shizuku)

AppManager also has its own implementation of this(I think this is pretty/fairly* rare, tho): https://muntashirakon.github.io/AppManager/en/#sec:wireless-debugging

Good to know it's just a restart/reboot away to solve it. I haven't try this myself, or notice any undeleted files. Usually if the operation is complex, I use X-Plore since that one remembered last opened folder from last session.

Edit: Addendum*

For small operation, I use this material files because its lightweight and fast.*

edit 2: it's called shell for ADB, instead of root.
