Feature - Add Integration with Round Sync

Open fallsdevil opened this issue 11 months ago • 3 comments

Round Sync is an Android version of RCLONE, I would like Files material to access the existing remote storage in Round Sync as it happens on Google Files, and in the native "file" of Androids that recognizes these storage. I think it would be poor and more intuitive, I don't know if there is any option to authenticate the login of some cloud account and access it on Files material, but I tried to use some existing options and couldn't... I researched before opening this suggestion and I believe this other about the rclone is something similar.

I am facing this same issue.

RoundSync has in it's "File Access" options :

  • Enable SAF Client Preview. Experimental. Access SD cards and other external storage devices.
  • Refresh local drives. Automatically update local storage at startup.
  • Grant, Manage_External_Storage Permissions. Experimental. Works only on Android 11.
  • Enable Content Provider Preview. Experimental allows other apps to work with R Clone remotes.
  • Declare as local provider. allows some apps such as Google Docs to access files.
  • Allow all apps to access your remote. Warning, allowing any app to access your remotes could result in unauthorized access to your data.

And despite all these being active, MaterialFiles does not see the SAF. Would love this to be a feature since I have no idea how to do it otherwise. 😄

Ahaha. Found it! 🎉

How to Add RoundSync's Remote Storage in Material Files: Step-by-Step Guide

1. Open Material Files

Launch the Material Files app on your Android device.

2. Add Storage

Tap the hamburger menu (three lines in the top left corner). Select "Add Storage" from the menu options.

3. External Storage

In the storage options, select "External Storage." This allows you to add storage locations outside the default app directories. Image

4. Select the Desired Folder from Round Sync

The app will invoke the native Android file picker. This picker can see both local and remote storage providers that are registered with your device (such as Google Drive, Dropbox, or other cloud services). Navigate through the file picker to locate your remote storage or the specific folder you want to add.

5. Grant Access

Once you find the folder in your remote storage, select it. The app will request permission to access this folder. Grant the necessary permissions when prompted. Image

6. Success !

The selected remote folder will now appear in Material Files, allowing you to browse, open, and manage files as needed. Image

I wish you Strength and Courage along your FOSS journey.
🙏

This is awesome, but unfortunately Google is having trouble using rclone to manage gDrive and gPhotos files so it doesn't work for me currently :(
