Night mode support

Maybe if night mode is enabled it can show dark background.

There is a -night qualifier reused by AppCompat which you can give a try, but I doubt it will be effective in the preview window. Generally speaking if you have switchable themes you should disable window preview to avoid wrong colors, at the expense of a slower start up.

About the multiple themes, have you tried using it with activity-alias? In my nexus 6P it looks weird.

Theoratically it should work just as any normal activity, but I haven't tried that approach because it kills icons on home screen.
