USB barcode scanner not added to devices

As I understand it, USB barcode scanners present themselves as keyboards. Is there any trick to helping the device manager find them?

Interesting. What operating system are you on? What is the model of the barcode scanner? What happens when you plug it in?

If you plug it in and run something like: python examples/devices_example.py Does it find anything relevant?

Sorry about the delayed reply- I've tried 2 different scanners from amazon https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00LE5VV1C/ref=oh_aui_search_detailpage?ie=UTF8&psc=1 I'm on windows 10, using python 3.6.5. Running devices_example.py finds nothing.
