The size changing shortcuts have been updated to be a bit easier to use. By default they expand, but this should be enough to configure layouts. Tile sizes no longer...
Probably not possible due to how gaps are handled in kwin (no fancy gaps), but I'll keep an eye on this for plasma 6/v1.0.
Floating window sizes are out of the scope of this script right now. KWin should remember them (?) and retain them correctly. I don't see this feature coming to Polonium...
I recommend adding a window rule to KWin that sets the maximized state to false for new windows. KWin doesn't actually have a property for whether a window is maximized...

It would be nice, wouldn't it? It used to just work. There's a large amount of code in the project dedicated solely to placing fullscreened windows back into approximate tiles...
