Android reconnect

Open isakrubin opened this issue 5 years ago • 9 comments

Currently the android client sometimes disconnects, not often but it happens.

It does however not appear to automatically reconnect which requires manually opening the app and toggle the switch to on.

Is this something that's in the pipeline to add as an option?

I've this issue too, I often need to manually reconnect by switching off and on in the app.

The VPN doesn't reconnect on rebooting the phone either. Would be great to add this simple trick as well.

@glimberg @adamierymenko @someara , @NuruNabiyev was offering on the community chat to help us work on the Android issues. He mentioned https://developer.android.com/reference/android/content/BroadcastReceiver

How do we get this issue off the backlog and onto the frontlog? We need re-connect on network context changes.

This feature is needed so that a phone can be left unattended and working. Right now it's needed to be on top of the phone to make sure it's still connected.

Doesn't it have an Always On option now?

Always-on VPN can be enabled to allow reconnecting VPN after the device boots. Always-on VPN is a feature generally available on Android devices in the VPN settings.

If people are seeing the ZeroTier Android client sometimes disconnecting, then that sounds like a problem to be narrowed down and fixed. Any information such as steps to reproduce, logs, etc. would be helpful.
