Cannot upgrade via winget

When installing via winget, you are unable to upgrade via winget. The error message always says "A newer version was found, but the install technology is different from the current version installed. Please uninstall the package and install the newer version."

This is probably something you'd have to take up over on the WinGet Repo. While we're appreciative of the community to be included in there, we had 0 involvement in getting on there in the first place.

As a ZT customer that is concerning to hear. I would hope this is something ZT would want to be 100% involved with. We have plenty of other vendors who are. Winget is the future of Microsoft application management.

I hear you. Currently the only official way of getting ZeroTier is via our download page.

Additionally, looking at the issue list over there, it seems like it's possible you're running into an issue with WinGet itself. There are several issues open over there for other packages with the same problem.
