Unable to log into the Grammarly extension

Preliminary Checks

  • [x] I have read and understood the important section above.
  • [x] I have searched existing issues and avoided creating duplicates.
  • [x] I am not filing an enhancement request.
  • [x] I have checked that this issue cannot be reproduced on Mozilla Firefox.
  • [x] I have checked that this issue can be reproduced once I removed all my Mods and Custom CSS.

What happened?

I have the Grammarly extension installed. Under the settings for the extension I get the message "Grammarly is active, but key features are missing." and am asked to sign in. When I select the sign in link I'm sent to a Grammarly Sign In page with a button to "Continue to Grammarly". Selecting that button does nothing.

When I go straight to Grammarly.com, I see that I am logged in, but the extension doesn't reflect that state.

Expected behavior

I should be able to log into the Grammarly extension.

Actual behavior

The extension does not allow me to log in.

Steps to reproduce

  1. Open the Grammarly extension in Zen
  2. Choose the "Sign in" link at the bottom of the popup.
  3. Authenticate

It is also occurring in Linux (to be more specific a natively-running build of Zen Browser on NixOS, however I think it also happens on other distributions)

Up, same on Windows 1.13.1b (Firefox 139.0.4) (64-bit).

Still happening in 1.14.10b also, definitely not a "stale" issue.

Anyone looking at this? I'm starting to think about moving to another browser...

remixtedi avatar Aug 09 '25 06:08 remixtedi

imo this is not a dealbreaking change, just either use the grammarly web docs or use another tool... but yea this is not stale...

I finally had success!

I started a fresh profile. Without installing anything else I logged into grammarly. Then I installed the extension and logged in. Then I synced with my account to get back to normal. Yay!
