I ran into this today, you can work around this by right clicking on the workspace name at the top to get the workspace context menu for now

Thanks for opening this, was looking if someone had reported this yet. This seems (at least partially) linked to this original issue: #6597 which also spawned a second, though heavily related issue here #6718

I tend to check the changelog after the above issues happened as it's rather frustrating to have fundamental things like this break often. It seems like a regression to me to remove the option from the bottom, especially so if not providing a notice in browser, or listing it as a major breaking change/feature removal and directing people towards the new location.

For anyone that might search and finds this issue and then cannot locate the workspace name button, this may help - I use SuperPins as a better looking default as I find the normal pins to feel cluttered. The default settings for the plugin/mod hide the workspace name and you will need to turn it back on/show it. The SuperPins plugin has a setting (tickbox) in the middle of the group under 'Add a border around Pins/Essentials' called 'Shows the workspace-indicator between Essentials and Pins' that you will need to turn on (have ticked) to bring back the name, and thus the ability to change workspaces with a button as per @dodeqaa 's comment.

Hi, @JaapSkinner. I'm Dosu, and I'm helping the desktop team manage their backlog. I'm marking this issue as stale.

Issue Summary:

  • Original issue: Right-clicking on the workspace icon doesn't provide the edit option in version 1.12.7b on Windows aarch64.
  • Suggested workaround: Right-clicking on the workspace name at the top, as proposed by dodeqaa, received positive feedback.
  • Related issues: MrDwarf7 linked this to issues #6597 and #6718, suggesting a possible regression.
  • Additional guidance: MrDwarf7 provided tips for users with the SuperPins plugin affecting workspace name visibility.

Next Steps:

  • Please confirm if this issue is still relevant to the latest version of the desktop repository by commenting here.
  • If no updates are provided, the issue will be automatically closed in 7 days.

Thank you for your understanding and contribution!

Still broken for me. I've been using the workaround but it's a bit annoying and I would like to see it fixed.

@kj Can you show what broken looks like?

It's currently looking like this when right-clicking the bottom icons:

For reference the context menu of the space label on top of the pinned tab section:

can confirm the issue is still valid. currently i get

So the workaround is an option but the ability to edit from the bottom does not work

That's what it looks like for me too. For reference I'm on Arch Linux x86_64 (Flatpak version), so it probably isn't just affecting one platform.

And this is on version 1.13.2b?

Propheticus avatar Jun 25 '25 06:06 Propheticus

Ah yes, with the most recent update it's finally working correctly for me now!
