What happened?
I configure my Windows 11 OS to "power off" my monitor in 2 minutes so as to preserve my OLED display. This is not the same as the monitor powering itself off or going to sleep. See below the settings in my OS and how they are configured.
After 2 minutes of inactivity the monitor will stop receiving an output from the OS and goes "off". When waking the display and OS by making a mouse or keyboard input the display restores. Often the last thing I was doing was interacting with Zen. The issue is that upon waking Zen's sidebar and toolbar, at least in compact mode, won't show - they are totally unresponsive to the mouse approaching the top or side edges of the display. The only fix is to close Zen via the taskbar or task manager and re-start the application.
