What happened?

There are times where when I open up new videos on Youtube, I'm unable to interact with anything but the video, suggested videos, the channel name and the video topics (All, Related, For You, etc). My mouse does not recognize anything else. Refreshing the page is a simple fix but I can't seem to replicate the issue; I've tried closing and re-opening Zen, making a new tab and opening a video from the front page, and opening from the suggested videos. It seems random but I can't be sure. When I used Zen on Windows, this issue was never present. I recorded a little video to try to show it: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=GUwEUjVRADc

it doesn't show much, but the cursor does not change when hovering over certain elements of the page and I cannot interact with them

i updated my browser to the latest version. The issue still persists, sadly. The issue sticks when switching youtube videos, but refresh still works

Facing the same problem on 1.12.5b (and previously also on 1.12.4b) . It is also random for me. I've tried the ublock filter suggest in the first thread below (still testing for now). This seems more like a youtube issue rather than the browser:

UPDATE : Since using the uBlock filter rules, I have not faced the issue with Youtube. It does seem to be an issue with youtube and I think this issue can be closed.

Hi, @WayThatWasLoving. I'm Dosu, and I'm helping the desktop team manage their backlog. I'm marking this issue as stale.

Issue Summary:

  • Intermittent problems with YouTube elements on Linux using Zen, not seen on Firefox or Windows.
  • Similar issues reported by other users on different platforms.
  • Suggested by @ShikharArvind that it might be a YouTube issue, not a browser problem.
  • Resolution found using uBlock filter rules, indicating a YouTube UI issue.
  • Positive feedback from @magvag on the effectiveness of the solution.

Next Steps:

  • Please confirm if the issue is still relevant to the latest version of the desktop repository by commenting here.
  • If no updates are provided, the issue will be automatically closed in 7 days.

Thank you for your understanding and contribution!
