What does the browser console show when the crash happens?

What does the browser console show when the crash happens?

I don't see anything in particular, just normal errors that also happen in firefox(edit: but don't crash anything)

I don't think so... image firefox version: 129.0.2

pirsonxyz avatar Aug 22 '24 17:08 pirsonxyz

Also another thing: it logs me out of the discord session and i have to log back in

pirsonxyz avatar Aug 23 '24 20:08 pirsonxyz

The issue occurs when I enter a voice room and grant it microphone permissions. If I don't grant microphone permissions, I can enter normally. I tested the issue on Firefox, and it didn't occur. I found a similar problem here: https://github.com/NixOS/nixpkgs/issues/332540

I'm using Fedora.

I can't seem to be able to reproduce this... Are you using the flatpak?

Same issue on Arch Linux using the Zen-specific AppImage...

Yes

darkyeg avatar Aug 29 '24 07:08 darkyeg

Same here . Have downloaded the Zen Browser using FlatPak. Only happens when having my mic allowed.

I tried to recreate the issue. Version: 1.0.0-a.33 (64-bit) Platform: Fedora Linux (tested on flatpak and tarball, recreated the issue on both) Notes:

  • The corresponding tab only crashes when other participants are in the channel. Tab does not crash when being the only user in the discord voice channel.
  • discord says connected for a short while, however about.webrtc doesn't log anything at all
  • I can even talk in the discord voice channel when I am the only participant and have the green ring meaning discord does pick up the mic.

Seems to be an issue with flatpak and AUR only? If I missed any, please do tell me

Appimage...

I managed to recreate the problem with the "portable" tarball from the site as well. Doesn't seem to make much of a difference. Behaves same as flatpak

knollth avatar Aug 31 '24 09:08 knollth

This error seems to occur when entering voice chat with microphone enabled and has multiple participant. Whereas entering a voice chat alone with microphone enabled works flawlessly

Cannot repro, I crash always, firefox works perfectly

Heya, does it still happen?

mr-cheffy avatar Sep 11 '24 10:09 mr-cheffy

yes

'ello. I'm moving to here from #1200 . Issue still persists.

To test: Discord > User Settings > Voice & Video > Mic "Let's Test" The moment voice audio comes outputs back, tab dies be it from the mic test or in a voice channel with other users.

Tried to reproduce to reconfirm for 1.0.0-a.39:

  • Windows 10 with Optimized and Generic builds work fine.
  • Generic Appimage and Flatpak still crashes.

Terminal output with flatpak run io.github.zen_browser.zen while crashing Discord twice:

The seg fault at the end still repeats per crash.

Google voice does the same thing.

  • The corresponding tab only crashes when other participants are in the channel. Tab does not crash when being the only user in the discord voice channel.

I was able to reproduce this, still happens on 1.0.1-a.3, Arch Linux. Also happens when testing the mic in the sound settings.

ecficies avatar Sep 23 '24 18:09 ecficies

Still in Version 1.0.1-a.7 (64 bit), arch linux, uses zip download

This problem still happens.

  • I'm using fedora.
  • I'm using Zen's flatpak version

Possibly related to https://forum.artixlinux.org/index.php/topic,7316.0.html or https://github.com/zen-browser/desktop/pull/1933

n7itro avatar Oct 07 '24 09:10 n7itro

Deal is, it also happens in the Flatpak

ecficies avatar Oct 07 '24 11:10 ecficies

This is also reproducible with Jitsi, it works fine right until the moment that you open the microphone selection.

CrimsonFork avatar Oct 07 '24 19:10 CrimsonFork

Hey, wanna throw here what I already mentioned on #1412.. I'm also running Arch Linux, and can confirm this still happens on the AUR package right now. However, when I build from source using npm, it manages to work no problem seemingly.

@mauro-balades Would you be able to provide a non-bin AUR package, at least for testing? It would at least also present a workaround there, even if it takes quite some time to build.

LightJack05 avatar Oct 10 '24 21:10 LightJack05

Just downloaded the release binary and ran it manually (./zen-bin), and observing the same behavior as with the AUR package. Doesn't seem to be with the packaging, seems to be the build itself...
