I went through about:config trying to find a workaround, but all I could find was zen.tabs.vertical. Setting this to false creates a mess.

+1 for this option. I'm really used to horizontal tabs in all my browsers. I'd love to have the benefits of Zen Browser but with the option of familiarity in how I manage my tabs. Please add this!

I'm joining the choir. I've been a FF user since 2004. I was intrigued buy Zen browser mainly because of the native window splitting option, but I really prefer horizontal tabs. I'll wait till the devs make it an option.

Between the comments and the reactions, I think the devs has received the message. As I'm as eager as you to see horizontal tabs implemented, I suggest to avoid adding more comments if it doesn't bring something new to the table (not meant to be pedantic, just to avoid overloading the devs!) 😉

EDIT: just to add that the devs seem to already working on it. Thank to them!

Couldn't that be mostly done using Weblate (maybe Crowdin) and (semi-)automatically be merged into the repo? I'd help translating it to German on something like a Weblate instance.
