zellij tab freezes after search back long output

When I use "Search" (Ctrl-S) to scroll back in long output (typically some ansible messages) the current tab gets frozen.

A workaround I just noticed: if I want to continue to use the tab I am still able to create a new pane and switch back to the other pane and kill it.

Or I directly have to kill the tab.

Zellij itself is still usable but my tab is lost.

Since this issue appears on a daily basis I report it now.

Setup: Windows 11 and from there to Linux VM via PuTTY zellij 0.40.1 (on CentOS 9 and Fedora 40 Silverblue)

Thanks for the report! We should definitely do some work to improve the performance of our search.

I just want to concur. I would love for there to be an option to not start searching until I press enter. Some lag in searching a big scroll history is ok, but lagging as soon as you start typing is a bit hard to work with sometimes. // Zellij is awesome!

FWIW, to work around the lag, I edit the output and use VIM search instead. I also love zellij.

Facing the same. When I try to search over 100K lines, the program fully freezes. I can't even switch to a different tab/pane. VSCode also has the same issue, searching in the terminal freezes the entire app
