I had the same problem when trying to connect a mlvpn compiled from source on the client (raspbian @ raspberry pi) to a server installed from the repository provided by mlvpn (Ubuntu Xenial 16.04.3 LTS). I compiled both from source from the master branch (as of today), and the error is gone.

I followed the tutorial here but it's not working yet: there's no error message in the client or server logs, but:

• /var/log/mlvpn_command.log is not created on the client
• I can't ping from my LAN (ping -n -c1 -I192.168.0.1 proof.ovh.net fails)
• the download speed is not improved
