System lag while dragging to select

Summary

The entire systems lags while dragging to select

Description

When I drag to select text, the entire computer lags.

Steps to reproduce:

  1. open zed
  2. try to use the mouse to select some text
  3. see the lag

Expected Behavior: no lag Actual Behavior: there is lag
