Images in split editor do not get updated instantly

Summary

When displaying a PNG image in Zed, newer versions of it only get displayed when Zeds editor gets focus.

This is in contrast to other editors, like VisualStudio, who update the images instantly.

When I am working on my ray tracer and render an image in the terminal, I have to select one of the source windows to get the image to update.

This is very inconvenient and sometimes I even forgot I did not update it yet and think it s a bug in my code.

Please ....

Zed Version and System Specs

Zed: v0.188.3 (Zed) OS: macOS 15.5.0 Memory: 24 GiB Architecture: aarch64

I cannot reproduce. Steps I used:

1. Have two files foo.png bar.png
2. Create baz.png

cp foo.png baz.png
zed baz.png

3. Recreated baz.png

cp bar.png baz.png

Zed automatically showed me the updated file even when it was not in focus.

Can you provide more explicit instructions for how to reproduce?

Ah, yes, right. Just noticed it only happens when: You split the editor and put the image into the split pane. I do it to the right, see attached.

When you do that, the image does NOT update (which somehow makes splitting the edit view pointless ?)

I still cannot reproduce, even with a split. Can you provide additional detail with a detailed set of steps I can use to reproduce? Assume I have a clean zed and an empty folder and go from there.

With the update of today it's fixed!! Dont ask me, but it was not working, I swear !!

But now I opened #31803 as I get loads of ugly white flashes ... .
