I have the same issue. And I'm not able to start the trial with a message An error occurred:Failed to initiate the billing checkout. Right now I'm not able to use edit predictions and any models provided by zed.

Similar issue. I've tried entering my Anthropic API key into the assistant settings, but I receive the same 403 error.

I have installed Zed today via Homebrew. Currently, my account is on the free plan which should apparently give me 2000 edit predictions per month, but I don't see the edit predictions working.

Same issue, chat returns a 403 and no edit predictions. May or may not be a bug, but if I've hit the free limits I can't find an indicator of it anywhere. (I think normally there's a counter for credits remaining in the editor's AI pane? It would be nice if your account page on the website also gave some information about credit usage.)

Hey folks, sorry for the confusion here.

We historically had a free plan that everyone was automatically on.

This plan has been superseded by the new Zed Free plan which requires an explicit opt-in.

For anyone running into this, if you go to zed.dev/account you will have the option of subscribing to the Zed Free plan, or starting a 14 day Zed Pro trial:

See our pricing page for what's included in each plan ("Zed Free" corresponds to "Personal" on the pricing page).

We are in the process of improving the in-product messaging to help convey the differences clearer and provide a better indication of which plan you are on.

Again, apologies for the confusion around this.
