Describe the bug / provide steps to reproduce it
After I start up zed and open terminal it behaves really weirdly: when I press backspace instead of removing a character it adds a space. Check out the reproduction video below. The loud sound of key press is the delete key. If I press it quickly enough no new spaces will be added, which can be seen at the end of the video.

For me, the backspace has become the "Space" button, so you better don't make any typos :D
This bug has gone away with the latest commit.
